In October 1991, a confluence of weather conditions combined to form a killer storm in the North Atlantic. Caught in the storm was the sword-fishing boat Andrea Gail. Magnificent foreshadowing and anticipation fill this true-life drama while minute details of the fishing boats, their gear and the weather are juxtaposed with the sea adventure.

'Twister' on water, but better
In fact, this movie is better than "Twister"
I've seen a lot of disaster movies, but none have had the tension, the emotion, and the special FX of "Perfect Storm". Twister had ok fx, but a horrible script. Volcano was boring. Dante's Peak was ok, but inaccurate. Armageddon was also way too unbelievable and inaccurate, and wouldn't happen the way it did, but it was still funny. I guess the only other disaster flick that's pretty equal to 'Storm' is "Deep Impact", on some occasions.
But enough about other movies. This one is based on a true story, as we're told. So, like most other Americans, I was not aware of the facts that surround this film, and didn't know what to expect at the end. Without spoiling too much, I'll say I was very surprised, but also very relieved that it was believable.
