After KAANTE the cool and stylish films started dominating
CHOCOLATE is a remake of THE USUAL SUSPECTS(which was partly remade in KAANTE)
The film resembles KAANTE, surprisingly Suneil starred in both here too we have 4-5 heroes and 1 heroine added Surprisingly the character of Irrfan is similar to Pankaj Kapur's character in DUS(released in the same year) which too lifted that character from THE USUAL SUSPECTS
The film is a weird film as here the cop part is replaced by an advocate which looks unconvincing The story is well told and the past and present is well handled but certain scenes are too far fetched like the chase because the guy whistles the tune Even the names of the characters is weird like Sim, Rocker.etc The movie proceeds well but many scenes don't make sense and the finale twist too doesn't fit in too well
Direction by Vivek Agnihotri is below average Music is good Camera-work is brilliant, the winter of London is well captured
Amongst actors Irrfan steals the show, making each gesture, expression and dialogue stand out Anil Kapoor too dons a different avtaar but overdoes the eccentricity of the character Suneil Shetty is okay at times weird too Emraan and Arshad have nothing to do, just to be a part of the crowd Tanushree with a dubbed voice(Palavi Joshi dubbed for her) is okay Sushma Reddy is okay Raj Jhutsi overdoes it
